FAQs

What Community need will be served

by this program?

While theobvious answer is to offer a hand to those seeking an escape from addiction, the less readily apparent, but equally important side benefit is the reuniting of families, the personal metamorphosis from a drain oncommunity and society at large, to a reconstructed former abuser to a productive member of the community, bringing with it both a financial benefit and  a quality-of-life improvement to our locale. Being open 365 days a year for information and support, providing community service opportunities for thos in Drug Court programs, The Well, Inc. is a highly valued supporter of community based churches and organizations.

How will the program provide

improvement?  What specific

performance procedures will the

program use to demonstrate

improvement?

By continuiing on with our Drug Court, Probation and Parole commitments, providing inexpensivespace for over 23 step programs, providing mush needed repair to our roof will keepour building from being compromised.  During the 34 years that The Well, Inc. has been in operation, the realization that not everyone has a desire to recover and many attempts at recovery often fall short, has required this program to take a longer view.  It has been learned and reinforced that establishing number or markers in an attempt to quantify specific achievement is a fruitless effort in the face of alcoholism and addiction.  What is observed, however, are the success stories of former wrecks, who have gone on to building a career, a business, a home and a place in the community.  This organization has seen much heartbreak, but the repeated victories of those who make it cause the donors and volunteers to know that it is a worthy effort.   Although anonymity is an integral element in recovery, virtually everyone in our community has, at one time or another, brushed shoulders, or engaged in business or social affairs with people who, in the not so distant past been classified as hopeless.

How does the program further the

mission of the Four Corners

Foundation?

As previously mentioned, The Well, Inc. has been fully engaged in focusing on the individual - providing the support, tools and direction for those lost in the jungle of alcoholism - for nearly 35 years.  When a single individual experiences recovery, that affects his/her children, spouses, parents, friends, employers, etc.  The argument could be made that everyone in the community is touched, for better or worse by a single person.  The Well, Inc. has made its mission to make that effect a positive one.  This is our approach to the same end as the Four Corners Foundation.

How does this program benefit the

Four Corners community, including

San Juan County, Farmington, Aztec,

Bloomfield, or surrounding areas?

The Well has been involved in providing emotional and mental support for recovering alcoholics since 1984.  In the early 2000’s. it expanded its mission to include those trying to recover from drug addiction.  Not only does this help the individual, but the benefits ripple out to family, friends and the community in general. This is the only facility in the Four Corners area where information can be found 365 days a year (70 hours a week) concerning alcohol and drug addiction.

Describe your organization.

The Well, Inc. is a 501 (c ) (3) non profit, first incorporated in 1984.  The original mission was simply to provide a meeting place for Alcoholics Anonymous and Alanon.  Over the years, it became apparent that there was a need for a clubhouse-type establishment that could offer support and a safe haven when newly sober individuals might be at a weak point.  As mentioned, The Well, has evolved to provide the same support for people addicted to substances other than alcohol.  Currently, The Well, Inc. works in cooperation with Drug Court and Probation and Parole to provide a positive environment for mandated community service and other support.
